Bischoff Doppelbock

This doppelbock certainly lives up to its style; bread-like, sweet and high in alcohol. On the pour this brew is a very dark brown with a very thin beige head that nearly disappears. The toasty aroma is complimented with flavors of coffee and a slightly chocolate-like quality. The taste is malt forward, but then mellows out to a plum and raisin sweetness. Grassy hops provide the perfect drying bitterness needed to stand up to the malt sweetness. Overall this beer is quite good and very well balanced.
