Bischoff Premium Doppelbock by Privatbrauerei Bischoff

I am fond of bock beers, but have never tried a doppelbock until now; I found this one to be quite good.  It pours a deep brown/mahogany color with a tan head.

On the nose it has a earthy feel.  This doppelbock certainly lives up to it’s style; bread-like, sweet and high in alcohol.  It has a dark bread smell and taste as if the grains were toasted before brewing; overall giving it a medium to full body.  It also has hints of a caramel coffee aroma tied in with fruity flavors such as cherry or apple.  Taste-wise the yeast and malt are prominent with earthy hops rounding out the taste.  Sweetness from the malt lingers on the palate.
